Questions

Egyptian Arabic FAQ

Is Egyptian Arabic the same as Modern Standard Arabic?

No. Egyptian Arabic is the spoken dialect of everyday life, film and music in Egypt, while Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the formal language of news and books. Many students begin with Egyptian Arabic to speak with confidence and add MSA later.

Can complete beginners join?

Yes. Your tutor adapts every lesson to your level, from your very first words.

Do I need to learn the Arabic alphabet first?

Not necessarily. You can start speaking first and add reading and writing when you are ready. Tell your tutor your preference in your free trial.

How long does it take to speak Egyptian Arabic?

It depends on your starting level, how often you study and your goals. After your free trial class your tutor will suggest a realistic plan and weekly schedule.
