Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) FAQ
What is Modern Standard Arabic?
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) is the formal Arabic used in news, books, official documents and formal speech across the Arab world.
Can I speak with people in Egypt if I only learn MSA?
MSA is understood widely, but everyday conversation in Egypt uses Egyptian Arabic. Many students combine MSA for reading and writing with Egyptian Arabic for speaking.
Do I need any Arabic to start?
No. We start from the alphabet and sounds if you are a complete beginner, and adapt to your level.
Will MSA help me understand the Quran?
MSA gives a strong foundation in Arabic grammar and vocabulary. Quranic Arabic has its own style, so many students add our Quran Recitation or Tajweed courses.
